The United States Air Force is one of the five branches of the United States Armed Forces, which handles aerial and space warfare. It was initially formed as part of the United States Army in August 1907 but was then established as a separate branch in September 1947 with the passing of the National Security Act of 1947. Although it happens to be the youngest branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, it is actually the largest and most technologically advanced air force in the world.

The Air Force is tasked to (a) preserve the peace and security, and provide defense of the United States, (b) support the country's national policy, (c) implement national objectives, and (d) overcome any nations responsible for aggressive acts that can imperil the peace and security of the United States of America.

The United State Air Force job for officers are categorized by the AFSC. These include all personnel such as pilot, space operations, special tactics, flight combat operations, and beyond combat flight crew personnel.

Ranks on the Air Force, on the other hand, are divided into three categories: company grade officers (O-1 to O-3), field grade officers (O-4 to O-6), and general officers (O-7 and above).

The United States Air Force stated mission as of today is, “fly, fight, and air, space, and cyberspace.”
